Upon the conclusion of regular season volleyball play, senior athletes from across the state of Iowa were selected to be a part of the IGCA All-Star volleyball team. Players were chosen by members of the Iowa Girls Coaches Association based on video footage and statistics that were submitted. There were 32 girls named as Iowa All-Stars from each of the 5 athletic classes. Of the 32 girls, 11 are from class 5A. Of those 11, two come from the MAC, both from Pleasant Valley.
Kelsey Ruff and Elissa Moylan are the volleyball players who will be representing Pleasant Valley on the IGCA All-Star team. Ruff and Moylan have been teammates through the entirety of their high school careers, and have both committed to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level next year. Moylan expressed, “I have played with Kelsey for four years, so it’s pretty awesome that we both get to experience this amazing opportunity together.”
The duo has been very crucial for the success of the Pleasant Valley volleyball program. Head coach of the varsity volleyball team, Amber Hall, said, “Moylan and Ruff are outstanding young ladies. They have made an impact both on and off the court, and they show what it takes to be a part of the PV volleyball program.”
The 32 All-Stars will be split into four teams named after the four major state schools in the state of Iowa. The Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Panthers and Bulldogs will face off in games on November 18th in Carroll, Iowa. “I feel super honored and surprised to be chosen as an All-Star. I’m super excited to get to play with so many talented girls,” said Ruff.
Pleasant Valley is proud to have the ability to showcase the talent of both Ruff and Moylan in the All-Star games. The two seniors have been dedicated volleyball standouts and made a tremendous mark on the Pleasant Valley volleyball program.

I love both Elissa and Kelsey and think what they are doing on and off the court is so respectable! I like how you included quotes from both the coach and both players! Great work!

Volley ball seems to be a sport you don’t hear much about. Especially with the roar of football. It’s refreshing to finally hear about other people in different sports
