Sam McGrath

Sam McGrath, Business Manager

Sam McGrath is currently a high school senior at Pleasant Valley High School and plans to major in business at Iowa State University. In his free time, Sam volunteers at St. John Vianney, enjoys playing in the Pleasant Valley Band, and spends time with his family including two chihuahuas. Sam’s interest in the band has resulted in him being selected for the Iowa All-State band three years in a row. When he is not spending time with friends creating computer programs, he works at Target. On some weekends, he can be seen playing pickup football with some of his friends as he is a huge fan of college sports. As the upcoming business manager for the Spartan Shield, Sam looks forward to a bright future.

Pleasant Valley provides opportunities for robotics students to go head to head in competitions. Robotics has become a new competitive activity for many students. This advances their STEM skills and guides them into careers of innovation where they could someday replace human jobs with robots.

Modern Woodmen Park has been closed for the 2020 season. Top officials have worked with fans to adjust tickets, suites, sponsorships, etc. to shift them to 2021.

Many corners around the Bettendorf and Davenport area has been packed with signs like these. Going from left to right there is Tony Knobbe seeking re-election for the Scott County board of supervisors along with Ken who is also seeking re-election for the board of supervisors. Mariannette Miller-Meeks who is running to represent Iowa’s 2nd congressional district in the U.S House of Representatives. On either side of the Miller-Meeks sign there are two Republican slogan signs stating, “Free Markets Not Socialism” and “Limited Government not Big Government.” Lastly, There is Gary Mohr who is running to represent Iowa’s 94th district in the Iowa House of Representatives.
