Two 300’s in one week
Dalton Hout is a junior on the PV bowling team and has only had two meets. During practice he bowled two perfect games.
That’s a strike every time you let go of the ball. Most of us would be satisfied to hit half the pins on all of our throws. Not for Hout. He has been bowling since he was seven, when his grandpa taught him. this fact makes him hold a big standard for himself.
Joining the team as a freshman checked a box off his bucket list, “I joined the team because I knew it was something I wanted to do since I was young”. Hout knows his grandpa would be very proud of him, if he knew how far he had come.
Now-a-days, Hout bowls for a the PV team, and is starting off this season very strongly.
He’s never made varsity, but this year may be the first time. The team has been very deep and competitive the last couple of years. Hout commented on state, “I’m very confident that varsity is going to be extremely competitive this year and I think we have a good shot at going to state and ultimately winning.”
The team has never won state while Hout was apart of it, but he is optimistic that he and his teammates can change that. The best he has ever bowled at a meet is a 268, but after bowling a couple 300’s in practice he is confident that he will bowl a perfect in a meet, which would surely get him a place on varsity.
As for the team next year Hout stated, “I’m shooting towards being able to form another high caliber varsity squad.” With the momentum of win in state or placing very highly, that may bring some new athletes or give Dalton a good platform to teach from. He is currently the only junior on or near varsity, and is planning to share some tips and tricks to his younger teammates. After all, bowling for close to 10 years has taught has given him plenty of time to hone his skills including spinning the ball, and of course, getting plenty of strikes.
