Through years of hard work and determination, Chloe Cline earned a spot on a very successful Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team as a freshman.

Cline has been excelling in the sport since she was in seventh grade. She worked hard at every practice this year, as well as at every game, during lifting sessions and out of school practice. Her dedication and positive mindset contributes to her improvement and success as a player.

With her positive attitude and determination, she has brought a lot to the team and to her teammates. “She’s always been one of the nicest and most coachable girls I’ve ever played with, and she’s a great team player,” said senior Claire Bebow.

Along with having an effect on her team, volleyball has impacted her life these past years. “It has helped me deal with pressure and I learned to trust my teammates a lot more than before,” Cline said. “I’ve met a lot of my closest friends in volleyball and also had experiences that will last a lifetime.”

As a teammate, Bebow has great respect for Cline’s dedication. “Her passion for volleyball shows because of how she plays on the court and the emotional attachment she has with the sport,” she said.

Cline set a goal of making the varsity team this year and put in the work and practice beforehand to achieve it. Her hard work led her to become a state semi finalist, rookie of the year and even a member of a number one club team in Iowa for her age group.

As a freshman on varsity, she was able to play for her team at state and experience all the excitement and pressure that came with high level athletics. Bebow believes Cline succeeded because she brings a certain type of intensity to the team that not all underclassmen can bring. She has the energy and attitude needed as a varsity athlete.

As she continues her high school volleyball career, Cline has hopes of earning an open level bid to Girls’ Junior National Championships for club volleyball and returning to state in upcoming years.
