If you’re staying home for spring break and need something interesting to do, try baking one of these five items that are sure to bring your tastebuds to life!

Spring break is just around the corner, and if you aren’t planning a vacation for this upcoming week in March, it is often easy to find yourself bored and hungry. Sitting around your house and relaxing can be the perfect medicine to combat burnout and restless minds from weeks of school, but if you find yourself stuck on what to do to pass the time, take a look at these five suggestions on items to bake over the break!

#1 – Cookies

Although these seem basic, the reality is that cookies hold a special place in the baking hall of fame. This classic sweet treat is never a bad choice, and there are countless different flavors you could incorporate into your cookie endeavors. Whether you decide on the timeless chocolate chip or the seasonal gingerbread cookie, you simply will never be less than satisfied.

#2 – Puppy Chow

This delightful goody is easy to make portable, and aside from its slightly messy powdered sugar covering, this snack is nothing short of delicious. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate, the perfect hint of vanilla and the crunch of Chex cereal is enough to make your mouth water. In only 15 to 30 minutes you can have this tasty treat sitting right under your nose.

#3 – Banana Bread

Not only does banana bread satisfy the needs of a sweet tooth, but it also provides a refreshing dash of fruit to your palate. This baked good will take you back to sunny summer afternoons and limitless imagination with its flavor-filled qualities and will definitely take you to a tropical destination with each bite. Who knows, maybe you can even add chocolate chips for a pinch of added sweetness!

#4 – Brownies

If you’re in the mood for a delightfully rich treat that doesn’t hesitate to smack you in the face with flavor, it is definitely a good idea to bake some brownies. If you’re sitting at home, bored and unsure of what can yank you out of your stagnant mood, take a look at a brownie recipe! These chocolatey, deliciously gooey treats are an easy way to add some sweetness to your life.

#5 – S’mores

While this isn’t necessarily the most complicated item on this list, it sure is an honorable mention. You don’t even need a fire to make these! If you desire a snack that takes you back to the nostalgic summer nights with your family by the fire, microwave yourself a s’more and enjoy the golden, melted center of each marshmallow.

Christmas movies make her smile all year long, and aside from her love for people, she also enjoys listening to new music. She plans to major in speech language and hearing sciences next year in hopes of becoming a Speech Language Pathologist, and is interested to see how living away from her twin brother, Alex, will go. Anna aspires to make someone smile everyday and strives to show kindness to everyone.
