It’s that time of year again; the temperature is dropping, the holiday music is playing, and Sparbucks is in the process of opening for yet another season. Sparbucks is a student-run coffee bar located in PVHS. Here, students and staff members alike can purchase hot coffee and other related beverages and snacks before starting the school day. Sparbucks uses its profits for charitable causes, including the Student Hunger Drive, and to sponsor student events. Spartan Assembly member Collin Smith, junior, says Sparbucks is a good way for the Student Council to raise money. “Sparbucks is a convenient and helpful amenity in our school because in addition to providing coffee to tired students, it also raises money for student activities.” Sparbucks brightens many students’ mornings because of the friendly volunteers, energizing coffee, and fun breakfast items.
The coffee bar, only recently named Sparbucks, has been around for over a decade. Mrs. Lux, the advisor of Spartan Assembly and overseer of Sparbucks, is proud of her students. She says that Sparbucks teaches students about customer service, keeping inventory, and following recipes. “It is very much a business,” Lux concludes. Sparbucks seems to provide students with pleasant experiences and efficient service. For more information or some hot coffee, visit Sparbucks from 7:30-8 a.m. before school.
