The versatility of Timothée Chalamet’s acting range is unmistakable.

Catapulting to fame in 2017 with Luca Guadagnino’s critically acclaimed film “Call Me by Your Name” (CMBYN), Chalamet played Elio Perlman, a young and curious 17-year old.

The raw and immersive portrayal of Perlman was applauded by many, as his portrayal of teenage vulnerability, as well as the adoration and attachment towards his older lover, felt honest and was heartbreaking.

Junior Alene Keppy is an avid fan of the movie: “His [Chalamet] acting in CMBYN is really amazing. The way Timothee chose to portray Elio allowed the audience to feel a deep connection to his character by the end of the movie. The heartbreakingly beautiful love story in CMBYN is one that I will never be tired of. I absolutely love the movie.” she said.

The movie was a success, garnering much acclaim by earning multiple accolades and a large following. At just 22 years old, Chalamet’s brilliant representation of Elio earned him the nomination for “Best Actor” at the Academy Awards, making him the third-youngest nominee.

In a contrasting performance to Elio, Chalamet’s versatility and acting skill is showcased again in the film “Beautiful Boy”. Chalamet played Nic Sheff, an emotionally vulnerable and struggling addict. Chalamet’s acting showcased the pain of addiction and the want to change, but not being able to.

He was incredibly dedicated to the role. “I’ve never given myself more to any project in my life. I lost 20 pounds to do it because I’m playing a methamphetamine addict. Similar to Call Me By Your Name, we really gave it everything, we laid it all on the line. It’s a really powerful and moving memoir,” Chalamet stated

All the emotions in the movie felt real. Whether it was the pain of not being able to stop, the anger resulting from all the pressure around him or the sadness of slowly losing touch with who he was before, Chalamet’s moving performance brought justice to the story of the real Nic Sheff.

Beautiful Boy is a spectacular movie. Timothee’s portrayal of Nic really exemplifies his range. His role was one that he had little to no experience with at the time, so it was impressive how excellently he executed his performance.” Keppy stated.

His most recent major performance was playing Paul Atreides in the 2021 film “Dune”, which was the winner of six Academy Awards at the 94th Academy Awards. Chalamet does a brilliant job in portraying the austere and resilient heir of the Atreides family.

His next on-screen appearance will be in the movie, “Bones and All”, a cannibal-romance film, directed by Guadagnino. Junior Emily Porschke is eager to see Chalamet take on this new role: “I am super excited to watch Bones and All. I love Timothée and I feel like this movie is something new that will bring out a different side of his acting,” Porschke stated.

The trailer for this cannibal romance starring Chalamet and Taylor Russell looks promising, appearing to be sensual, thrilling, eccentric– and a little bloody.

Chalamet’s increasing popularity and fame stems from his commitment to his roles. He commits himself to the characters he plays and challenges himself by exploring new genres. The versatility in his roles exemplifies his dedication to acting and shows how he has become one of Hollywood’s rising stars.
