With the 2023 Spartan football season recently ending, now is the perfect time to reflect on the fun festivities of high school football. Check out these 5 best football game themes and be prepared for when they return in the upcoming years!

1. USA

Students have a great time dressing for this festive theme. A sea of red, white and blue flags and hats flood the student section- a fun homecoming game tradition. For some fun and inexpensive USA props, check out Amazon.

2. Pink out

There are so many fun ways to go all out for pink out. You will find students dressed head to toe in their favorite pink gear. The best thing about this theme is you can find all of these things at home! No shopping required.

3. Jersey

Jersey night is a great opportunity to dress as your favorite professional player or to match with your friends. If you don’t have a jersey at home, borrow one from a PV athlete to show your support!

4. Hawaiian

Grab a lei, sunglasses, and a floral vacation shirt for Hawaiian night! This fun and colorful theme makes for a great time and great pictures. Mix and match different colors to embrace the Hawaiian vibe.

5. Neon

This bright theme allows for so many fun color combinations. Grab some fun props like glow sticks, wigs, or neon body paint for amazing pictures and to give the student section a pop. For endless neon options, stop by Party City.

Ellie Samec is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School. Ellie is a writer and a Copy Editor for the Spartan Shield, and this is her first year participating in the journalism program at PV. She has played the violin in the PV orchestra since 7th grade and plans to continue at the college level. Ellie enjoys taking science classes such as Anatomy and Physiology and Bio-Med as she hopes to, one day, become a doctor. She loves the outdoors and participates in the Love Your Mother Environmental Club where she helps to grow and maintain a flower garden at the high school. Ellie is excited to be a part of the Spartan Shield and to learn about writing and reporting!
