Recently performed at the Davenport Adler Theatre on September 15th, Brit Floyd enamored its audience performing one of the greatest rock albums of all time, Dark Side of The Moon.

Since the official discontinuation of Pink Floyd in 2006, fans have eagerly awaited a band that can match the levels of psychedelic space-rock Floyd brought to the music industry and mainstream media. Lucky for those attempting to fill the void the band left, an emerging British cover band that goes by the alias “Brit Floyd”, recently saw a massive surge in popularity.

Starting as several cover bands for Pink Floyd, Brit Floyd is the combination of the best cover artists who come together to breathe life back into the legacy of Pink Floyd. “ I saw Pink Floyd in person many times, but seeing Brit Floyd for the first time was a life-changing experience. They were endorsed by multiple retired Pink Floyd members, with them going so far as to say they were better than they ever were” states avid Pink Floyd enthusiast Christopher Burkhart.

Despite all skepticism leveled against the cover band, it is undeniable that an endorsement from the original band all but proves the level at which Brit Floyd has mastered and honed their craft to perform.

But how exactly was a cover band able to live up to the living sensation of psychedelic rock that Pink Floyd first created? “Brit Floyd was able to improve upon the original lineup because they get to concentrate only on perfecting the presentation of the material, the original members had to come up with it in the first place, and some of their message gets lost in translation whereas Brit Floyd, can just concentrate on only the music and presentation of the music. The message has already been written, they just go out there and play” Burkhart puts beautifully on why Brit Floyd has come so far despite being a cover band.

Brit Floyd does not plan on stopping its tours anytime soon, and as of 2024, they hope to make another appearance in Iowa performing some of Pink Floyd’s greatest hits in a massive love letter concert.

Not only spanning Dark Side of the Moon, beloved songs from Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell, and The Wall, are all ready to be performed in a spectacular light show/concert hybrid of a performance. To all devoted fans of Pink Floyd, Brit Floyd remains one of the greatest cover bands and performers of this generation, and all would be advised to give them a shot.
