The Pleasant Valley class of 2017 has had its fair share of athletic talent in its four year high school career. From standouts in track and football to soccer in the spring, the class has made their name known. But at Pleasant Valley, basketball has been the highlight for the last three years. Pleasant Valley has been blessed with four seniors in 2017, who have improved PV basketball and the relationships it creates. Peter Zucker, Michael Meyer, Alex Kitzmann, and Trevon Montgomery have all made lasting impacts on PV basketball.
All the seniors were asked what their favorite memory was from basketball and how they feel they have helped the team improve on the most. First, Peter Zucker, a beloved senior who has never given up on his team or his sport, said, “My favorite memory was going to state, and I have helped the other players on the team become better during practice”. Zucker is a strong leader of the team and great role model because of his determination to win and a great senior to lead his team.
The next interviewed senior was Michael Meyer, a tri-sport athlete who demonstrates the strength and willpower that makes him a great role model. Meyer said, “My favorite memory of PV basketball was the state tournament last year, and the fun that Peter, Caleb, and I had. Caleb and I came up with our conjoined dance move, and Peter and I got our nicknames ‘Stinky Feet and Mono’. I have helped my team the most by staying focused and tough”. Meyer will always be remembered for his physicality on the court and his resilience to playing soft.
For Alex Kitzmann, basketball has been a huge part of his life and person. He has played the sport the majority of his life and has gained many valuable experiences from the sport. Kitzmann said, “My favorite memory from playing with Pleasant Valley was playing in back to back state tournaments. I feel I’ve helped improve the team the most through helping other people score and being able to perform great defense on great players.” Kitzmann will always remain a crowd favorite and one of the best playmakers Pleasant Valley has ever been blessed with.
The final senior was Trevon Montgomery. T-mo has got the iciest shot and best handles at Pleasant Valley. Montgomery said, “My favorite memories are making it to state two years in a row. I feel like I most improved my team through the defense.” Montgomery has got the quickest dribbling skills on the team and one of the best ball handlers to come through the valley. Montgomery will always be remembered for his relentless defense and inspiring style of basketball.
The class of 2017 has plenty to offer in all the athletic and academic talent that exists. But the seniors on the 2017 Pleasant Valley Basketball team will be remembered for their leadership roles and accomplishments.
