“My Life With the Walter Boys” is a fairly new Netflix series starring Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry. The first season premiered in 2023 with the most recent season being released on Aug. 28, 2025. The series follows the life of the young Jackie Howard, a New York City native whose life was suddenly uprooted after her parents and older sister were involved in a fatal car accident.
After the accident, Jackie was sent to live with the Walter family in the small town of Silver Falls, Colorado. Here, Jackie was living among nine kids with seven of the nine being the children of George and Katherine Walter and the other two being George’s nephews. As Jackie began to adjust to life in Silver Falls, she found herself growing closer to two of the Walter boys: Alex and Cole. Eventually, Jackie and Alex began dating, but Jackie couldn’t forget about Cole.
Season two began with Jackie living in New York City with her uncle for the summer. Instead of facing her problems (with Cole and Alex) head on, Jackie ran from them.
Upon her return to Silver Falls, Jackie was still conflicted about Cole and Alex. She had spent all of last year going back and forth between the two. Even when Jackie started dating Alex, Cole was still in the picture.
As season two progressed, Jackie still had not made a choice between Cole or Alex, similar to season one. Viewers have taken to social media to call out the writers and producers for making the new season a repeat of the previous one.
Not only are fans upset about the continuance of the love triangle in season two, they are also upset with the underwhelming plot as a whole. Many viewers found themselves skipping over certain scenes. The majority of season two was focused on George and Katherine working with their eldest son Will and Jackie’s Uncle Richard in an effort to prevent the Walter family ranch from being sold to an outsider. Most people who watched the show were interested in Jackie and Cole, so when the main focus of the show was saving the ranch, viewers became upset.
Additionally, the last few minutes of the final episode of season two were essentially a repeat to the final minutes of season one as well, and Jackie was in between Cole and Alex again. Many fans were left unsatisfied since they now have to wait until 2026 to find out what happens with the three.
Production for season three began shortly before the premiere of season two. Hopefully, the criticism of season two will incite the writers and producers to make some changes to effectively progress the show’s storyline.
