The first season of the hit show “Stranger Things” was released in 2016. Since then, four seasons have been released. The fifth and final season will be released this year, with part one releasing on Nov. 26.
After the release of season three, Netflix began publishing the series in parts. Season four was released in two separate parts. Season five will be similar; there will be a part one, part two and a finale. “I don’t like that the show is being released in separate parts. I just want to be able to watch it all at once,” said PV senior Bella Yarbrough.
The release gap between seasons has grown each year. The first gap was one year, the second was two and the third and fourth were three. With the long gap between seasons, viewers’ anticipation has increased. “I can’t wait for the new season to come out. It has been such a long wait,” said PV junior Kalie Tessen.
In addition, the viewers’ expectations have increased. In the final season, viewers are hoping to see a satisfying conclusion that ties back to the initial seasons. “Since the first season came out such a long time ago, I hope the finale will bring back some of the original plot line,” said Kalie Tessen
The reason for the extensive period of time required to film is due to the complexity of the scenes. “Stranger Things” uses high-quality visual special effects, and with the intricate plot, the producers also wanted to perfect the content for the season.
Season five will include eight episodes. Episodes one through four will be released on Nov. 26, and episodes five through seven on Dec. 25. The finale will be released on Dec. 31.
The storyline of season five is expected to focus on the elimination of the monster Vecna. However, the characters will face significant uncertainty due to the new military quarantine in Hawkins. The military will also be searching for Eleven, one of the main characters.
Fans are excited to see some of their burning questions answered. In this season, viewers will understand the relationship between the hive mind and the upside-down as well as the fates for the main characters.
The final season of “Stranger Things” has been the most anticipated. Although viewers are sad to see the show come to an end, they are counting down the days until the release of season five.
