Not only does Rachel Tebbe, senior, bring her athleticism to her sports, but she also brings major team spirit. She is a very energetic individual who is always trying to promote a positive environment for her teammates.
Rachel has grown up playing sports all her life. She started in 2nd grade and has continued to do so throughout high school. She has played volleyball, track and softball where she has been very successful. Throughout high school, Rachel has also been a team manager for the wrestling team.
As she nears the ending of her high school athletic career, she has a high potential for success. Pleasant Valley Track and Field coach, Kenny Wheeler, said, “I’m excited to see what levels of achievement she can reach as we head towards our championship season, and for her to see the rewards of all of the hard work, time, and energy she has put into this team and this season.”
Entering her championship season, Tebbe said, “My goals are always to do whatever it takes to win state. And in order to do that I need to work hard and push myself. My favorite part is competing next to my teammates and fighting alongside them to win.”
Along with her competitive spirit, Rachel has been an outstanding leader towards her teammates over her high school years.
Kenny Wheeler, track coach, said, “Rachel brings so much to our team in terms of her attitude, her effort, and her enthusiasm. She has been one of our vocal leaders off the track and one of our most consistent performers on it. It has been fun to see her continually develop and improve as a member of this team and to see her confidence rise in her abilities through time. Rachel competes with a fiery spirit and she’s been an unsung hero on this team.”
Over Rachel’s high school athletic career she has been apart of a Drake Relays and State Championship team in the 4x400m relay and was a part of Pleasant Valley girls’ state track team for the past three years. Her softball team placed 2nd at state last year and she received the All Tournament Award at the state tournament as well as being a captain of the Volleyball team.
As her athletic career is nearing its end, Tebbe said, “I will miss competing and all the time spent practicing to set and achieve goals the most.”
