With the intention of meeting new people and contributing in enjoyable activities, clubs are a great way to get involved. There are numerous clubs to choose from with varying, satisfying purposes. Many students at PV practice the Christian faith and are involved in athletics, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meets both of those interests.
FCA starts off by opening up with an activity or a game which later proceeds to deeper talks regarding how faith relates to the student’s lives and sports. Although Mr. Youngbauer is considered the “mentor” of the club, a majority of the club meetings are student led, forcing students to exemplify great leadership skills. Abby Davison, a senior, joined FCA last year with nothing but positive things to say. “I like that the club is student led, it’s more powerful when peers are in control,” she says.
Once the activity and the deep talks start to wrap up, a breakfast is provided. Grace D’antico, a senior, couldn’t be happier about this, along with the previous discussions. “The members make it enjoyable and interesting. It’s always a great way to start the morning, with prayer, bonding, and breakfast with friends!”
Not only does FCA provide a sense of security with God, but it also teaches life skills, allowing students to transfer what they learn into the real world. These skills consist of reaching out to others with the objective of doing what God would want. Being inclusive and reaching out to those in need is a part of the FCA etiquette.
If you’re seeking a stronger faith life along with applying faith to sports, join the FCA club, which takes place on Fridays from 7:30-8:00. All are welcome!
