New on Netflix in 2020

Netflix has been updating their movies and TV shows since it was founded in 1997.

For the upcoming decade, Netflix is planning to update their shows and give viewers new films to binge. This also means that shows and movies will be making their way off the streaming service. Here are the changes that will be made on Netflix for the new year.

Arguably the most significant omission from Netflix would be the popular TV show Friends. Seasons one through ten will be leaving Netflix on Jan. 1. The departure of this binge-worthy comedy may leave people looking for newer shows to watch such as Parks and Recreation or The Office. Friends is a very popular show and will be missed by many after leaving Netflix.

To start off the decade, Netflix will be adding a new repertoire to their movie collection. There are over 40 new movies getting added in order to keep the audience engaged and get new subscribers to join their platform. Netflix is dependent on keeping viewers by adding a variety of different genres of movies and shows. However, with the change in movie additions comes no change in price.

The movies to added include Shrek, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Free Willy. By adding these, Netflix is more hopeful to get people to spend more time on Netflix. Along with adding popular movies, Netflix is adding more of its original series as well.

Successful original series include Making of a Murder and Bojack Horseman. A new season of each of the shows will be added on Jan. 15. Bojack Horseman is a highly regarded series and has racked up the awards since its first airing on Netflix in 2014. This includes a Critics Choice Award for best-animated series in 2017 and 2019, according to IMDB.

Senior Adrian Swanson is an avid Netflix watcher and is thrilled to see new movies on the site. “I ran out of things to watch, and I really like that they are adding some more classics,” Swanson said. Changing the content refreshes the movie watchers on Netflix.

Netflix adding in all of the new shows and movies will be refreshing to viewers in the new decade, and hopefully keep them wanting to watch more.
