Terrorist attacks continue to happen across the globe, with primary targets being civilians. Now, terrorists have new targets that could potentially attack both civilians and the President of the United States. With Donald Trump as president, properties around the globe could be new targets for terrorism. Michael Meyer, senior, said, “I think an attack on Trump Towers is a viable thing, because it is a direct attack on the U.S.” Although none of his properties are located in countries currently at war, there are a few near dangerous parts of the world. The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has asked that the Trump Tower in Istanbul have his name removed from the building, hoping to decrease the risk of an attack on it. There is another tower located in Manila, close to a group of Philippine terrorists who have recently pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Although Trump has stated these properties are not of his concern, the buildings still belong to the President of the United States. Secret service will not be in charge of keeping the buildings safe; instead, a private security company will be responsible. There have been talks of the buildings being reinforced by walls and security checkpoints as to limit the ways of getting in, along with escape plans in case of an attack. Civilians will have to be cautious when visiting these areas. Jordyn Haessler, senior, explained, “I would stay clear of any towers that he owns. I want to not only avoid an attack, but also the annoying protesters.” Security will be tightened and it is advisable for people stay alert when in the vicinity of any Trump owned property.
