Recently, animated movies have experienced a surge in popularity among avid movie watchers

One of the biggest past-time activities for high school students is going to the movies. Animation specifically has risen in rankings after a recent surge in popularity. In no particular order, here are the top 5 animated movies that served as a turning point in animation history.

 

  1. “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” (2023)

Perhaps one of the highest grossing films of 2023, “Across the Spider-Verse” is a common choice for many movie watchers. Earning over $663 million U.S. dollars worldwide, this movie takes watchers on a rollercoaster ride of suspense, humor and action.

 

  1. “Ratatouille” (2007)

“Ratatouille” is one of the best French movies due to its animation and storytelling. This animation generated a total of $623.7 million U.S. dollars despite being relatively new to the animation industry. This film involves comedy and drama and makes a great pick for relaxed weekends.

 

  1. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2018)

“Into the Spider-Verse” is the prequel to “Across the Spider-Verse”, which generated around $385 million U.S. dollars. This movie introduced the main characters of this animated series and launched a new version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Just like “Across the Spider-Verse”, this movie is filled with humor and excitement.

Despite being the oldest film series on the list, “Toy Story” still holds a special place in the hearts of many. This movie is perfect for family movie nights and includes suspense and drama.

The “Cars” franchise is arguably the best filmed Disney animation franchise. Earning $462 million dollars worldwide, “Cars” proves to be a big hit for the rise in animation popularity. Originally designed for children, “Cars” spread its audience from the young to the old. This movie is packed with racing, action and humor.
